Dori and Brenda in Maine!

Well, hello!  It's been about a gazillion days since last I posted, and this post has nothing to do with jewelry!  Read on for more excitement about my adventures with Brenda of Cockeyed Optimist Fame...

Sunday...We have arrived in Rockport, Maine  for our days of filming at the Maine Media Center, a film and photography college for continuing professionals.  After a 9-HOUR EXCURSION through dark, foggy, drizzly, stormy New England weather, Brenda and I arrived on campus just past midnight with just about one hair's width of a clue as to what to do.  By luck, we stumbled (literally) upon a lockbox outside one of the buildings containing envelopes with our names and room assignments and various other notes including and limited to:

1.  The internet password
2.  Van service schedule (where that van goes, we don't know, be we know it will take us somewhere at appointed times, not including Saturday afternoons and evenings)
3.  A map, which confused us at our late hour of arrival and only added to our confusion in the darkness (I did manage to find a soda machine and restroom whilst noodling about at midnight in search of our lodging)
4.  mealtimes - THANK GOODNESS - which are luckily served near our lodging.

MONDAY MORNING - We are, so far, enjoying our stay!  The room is dorm style and it all feels so camplike.  We shared our breakfast table with Colleen from Boston (who looks just like Ashley Judd, and yes, many people have told her), Michael from Orange County, CA, and River who just relocated from Prospect Heights, BK to Washington, DC.  Our breakfast-mates are all in the documentary film course curriculum, so thank goodness they were meeting with the actors...

Brenda managed to find Tim, who managed to tell us where to find Sara, who was hidden in the tech barn in an office with a blue door.  She was so glad to see us!  We were glad to see her, too. As travel was difficult for all last night, it seems some of the film directors were delayed in their arrival, and we volunteered to be on call for their arrival so we could find out what projects we would be working on...

In the meantime, we are going to jump in the car and explore a little of the environs.  Rumor has it that nearby Camden is really nice.  And there is a YMCA so Dori may be able to swim!!  (and Brenda may be able to do some form of exercise yet to be determined, if she can keep herself from napping).  We're now going climb our uphill room (the floor is slanted) and out the door so check back later for more musings.

Remain on the edge of your seat.  Photos to follow...

MAY DAY! Spring Sale from Ike Designs!

HI all! This month's sale is as colorful as the May Flowers we may see blooming around us. I had a heckuva time dreaming up May's special sale, but I finally decided it is time to lose the scarves and turtlenecks, put our hair up or get a new short cut, and show off our earlobes with color! Each day I take Tribble for a walk and discover a new flower in bloom and the park is bursting with color, so I thought I would do so, too!

For those of you who don't know it, I am part of a great group of actors in NYC called THE COCKEYED OPTIMISTS (www.ceotheatre.org) and we are currently producing our second full length show called ONE THING I LIKE TO SAY IS. Well, I'm not in the current show, but it is getting great reviews, as well it should. This week, I burst into the dressing room, camera in hand, and recruited Jolie and Brenda, two extra swell actors to lend me their earlobes so I could photograph May's earrings on a lovely lady. Each complied, and Jolie walked away with two pairs (she loves her jewelry, just like I do). Brenda can already be seen gracing my sales pages on www.etsy.com and can be seen tooling around NYC wearing her Ike Designs with grace and loveliness. Thank goodness I have such great friends willing to help me! Where else could I get such willing earlobes? Click on http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5559110&section_id=5291373 to see the sale and the earlobes extraordinaire.

Ike is offering one pair of earrings for $22, two pairs at $44 with free shipping, or 6 pairs for the price of 5 and free shipping at $110. I hope to see your colorful ears and that you enjoy your spring!

Ike Designs Open Studios

Whew! Ike Designs Open Studios is over!  The Morgan Fine Arts Building in Brooklyn (which houses Ike Designs by Dori Eisenhauer) opened its doors so I had a chance to take in visitors to my studio, and I also had a chance to meet the other artists in the building!  Tribble visited, too, and got a new squeaky toy from artist Ed Heck.  She was also nice enough to pee on the floor of my studio.  I love my pomeranian.  The studios were mapped out with "feet" on the floor to guide visitors to the open studios - Tribble and I followed them right to my studio only to discover I left my keys at home!  Thank goodness the Morgan Fine Arts Building owner let me in - and my room mate Lindsay delivered my keys to me when she visited.  I will post pics of the studio for those of you who could not visit!  Right now, I'm gearing up for May's special, and pondering what I can make for all the moms out there who are preparing to celebrate Mother's Day!  Don't forget to honor your mom and all the important women in your life!

Rainy Day

Well, it was grey, and it rained and thundered all day today...and Tribble napped and dreamt of colorful gemstone necklaces.  We did not make it to Ike Designs Studio today due to illness (mine), but Tribble joined me in the studio on Saturday!  She had great fun perusing the floor for small bits of metal and gemstone beads, much to my chagrin, and took a nap in her kennel while I worked on some new ring designs.  I hope to unveil these new rings this summer - nice organic shapes to grace your fingers!  I will add gems to some of them.  Stay tuned for the summertime collection...

MY NEW DOG, TRIBBLE!

Hi Friends of Ike!
For those of you who aren't near me in NYC, I would like to introduce my new Pomeranian, Tribble! A bit of Ike Designs Trivia - my jewelry line is NOT named for me - as in IKE of Eisenhauer, but for my first pomeranian, a lovable 5-pound canine named Ike! Tribble is the latest in my history of pomeranians, and was of great help as I photographed my latest pieces for sale at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5559110 She herself boasts a faux leather, white, pearlized collar complete with gems of pink and sparkling CZ. But she is no wimpy lap dog - she runs up four flights of stairs in my Brooklyn 4th floor walkup faster than I can. If only I could get her to carry my groceries. Tribble has not been to my studio yet, but I think I will break her in tomorrow to see how she likes it. There is a park nearby, so she will have someplace to run and meet new dogs and people. There is no trouble with Tribble!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings,
Dori and Tribble

Welcome

HI Friends of Ike!  So glad you could stop by!  This day finds me in a contemplative mood and happy to introduce the Lotus Flower Pendant as my April Sale Special!

You can buy it online for $36 during April at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23101557

The Lotus is one of my favorite symbols.  It is a lovely flower which grows from a murky pond bottom, out of the darkness of the depths of the water, reaching towards light and blossoming on the surface.

Take a moment to peruse the fleur of the month - I really love this little pendant and will offer it in gold variations and as earrings next month.

Blessings,
Dori
